early morning saturday session

Well, it has been a while since my last blog!  What better way to get back into my blog than to share a pic from my day today...I was up at 6am on a Saturday morning to meet a couple of the Perth Girls at Kings Park for a morning session.  It was great!  I ended up running 4km in total, lunges, crunches, and a stair climb!  In an hour, I burnt 585 calories, so not a bad session!  After the training we headed for brekkie where I ordered two poached eggs and 1/2 tomatoe...food was pretty shit, but great company.

Then we headed to this bowls club to meet up with about 15 other Perth Girls who were doing the flying trapeze.  I just went along to watch, and had an awesome day.

zumba virgin no more!

On Sunday I went to the Perth Telethon Zumba challenge...FRICKIN 33-35 degrees heat!!!  Anyway, I met some more of the Perth Crew after introducing myself to the group once I recognised them in their Perth Crew hats!  It was a bit awkward as I hadn't met any of them before...but still, they invited me to sit with them and got chatting away.

There was a bit of waiting around, but finally the zumba challenge got started.  I still managed to burn 450 cals once it started...and I got to zumba next to once of the actors off Packed to the Rafters!!  Was a good day, but too hot for me!!

meeting the Perth Crew for the first time

Hello everyone who is reading this (obviously you're not watching any rugby)!

Well, my partner and I have moved to Perth and arrived on Thursday 6th October.  I'm staying in a hotel for two weeks (thanks to my company), and then moving into an executive apartment for another two weeks.....hopefully inbetween this my partner and I find an apartment to lease for 12 months!  Jesse goes back to work on Tuesday, so we have two more nights together until he heads off for two weeks.

So, Friday night we met some of the Perth Crew for the first time at a Ki-max class at the Morley YMCA.  It was fantastic, and I burnt 695 calories in the hour!  Amazing workout and I was literally dripping with sweat.  I took Jesse with me and he said he's never had a workout like that before (he too was dripping).  He's more used to the 'blokey' workout with the boys doing weights etc.  So it was fun for us both.

The Perth ladies were lovely.  I was in the bathroom getting changed into my gear and then a few of them came in trying on Perth Crew tops....they were having a right laugh!  They made me feel so welcome as well.  Sally was lovely, organising the class and yet she was injured from a 17km walk and yet she still turns up and gets it all going...how cool is that!  PLUS she had brought along my cap and Perth top so that was a nice surprise!  There were a couple other ladies that I got chatting too, but I'm sooo bad with names I can't remember already! Will do a snoop on the Perth FB page hehe.  So all around, had a WICKED night at boxing, worked up a sweat after a LOOOooong day driving around and visiting open homes (or as the Aussies call it 'home open'..weird)!

I met Michelle Bridges!! SCORED!!

Hey All

Well I headed out to Rebel Sport on Saturday (Chatswood mall, Sydney) as Michelle Bridges was going to be there promoting a brand of sports gear and signing merchandise etc.  I had such an upset tummy all morning (IBS) and wasn't very well.  I got on my bust (30 mins bus ride) and then waited for the train.  About two train stops into my journey to the mall, I had an urgency to do a poo!!  I had to get off at Central, go loo, and then wait for another train to Chatswood!!  Poor tummy!

Me and Michelle, 24/09/2011

I met Michelle and she asked me how it was all going, and if I had been finding it okay/hard.  I mentioned that I find cooking dinner hard as I"m so tired from my day and gym workout and travelling home...plus I don't have a microwave so had to cook fresh and some nights couldn't be bothered.  She is so pretty (and tiny)! She has amazing eyes I must say!  Anyway, I'm pretty good at reading people's personalities and she was really interested in how I was going, and was so sincere.  She gave me a big hug and man, she is so inspiring!  I felt like I had met a rock star!

I was walking around the rebel sport in a daze after that (but managed to splash $200 on singlets, her DVD package, boxing wraps and a t-shirt).  What a day!!

Anyway, I arrived in the nick of time!!  She was still there.  I met two beautiful ladies who were also doing the 12wbt and were there to chat to Michelle.  They kindly let me go in front and they even took a pic of me and Michelle for me! Very kind of them and I was very grateful!  Hopefully I'll see them again at the finale (I can't remember their names as I was so on cloud 9 and also sweaty from rushing to get to the mall)!!!

Blog challenge

1. Describe yourself in 25 words or less. You can get straight to the point - or bring your creativity into play. Cheeky Kiwi chick with big boobs!! Lol (no really, they are big). Bubbly personality, intelligent, witty, loved, artistic, music lover, magazine whore (as in I buy heaps of magazines each week)!!

2. What brings you to 12wbt? Getting fitter? Losing weight? (Gaining weight??) Are you first timer, a repeat offender??
I'm here to lose weight, and improve my health.  I've put on 25kg since living in Australia and I want to get back to a healthy weight and lifestyle. I want to be the girl I was back in NZ - full of life, sociable, confident, no health issues, FUN!!
3. Why do you blog??
It's just showing off really isn't it!!  I get to paste my photo's of my journey without bombarding my friends on facebook!! No, really..I have tried to blog before (when I was trying to get into the Police in NZ) and I found it really kept me on track.  I'm not an emotional writer /blogger though..more of a photo's blogger!

4. Who is your biggest inspiration in life and why (doesn't have to be weight loss)
Uhhh this isn't that hard...it would have to be my Dad.  He's been obese since I can remember.  He's a very successfull businessman and also very giving and loving.  He has actually joined the gym with my mum and I'm so proud of him.
5. What things in life bring you the most joy?
My sexy lover Jesse (he cracks me up big time and always brightens my day), my family and friends back home (my bestie Elaine who is always there for me with good advice, my parents who are really supportitive and now competing! and my beautiful niece and nephew who brighten my week with their smiles), lately...the gym!!  Seeing the scales come down, magazines!!!  Hopefully I'll be experiencing joy from shopping again soon, dancing to Hip Hop, singing, listening to my music, red lipstick and perfume!
6.What do you think your greatest challenge is going to be this round?
Probably my move to Perth mid-round and starting a new job, living in a hotel for two week's and then an apartment for another two weeks, and finding a new place to live, finding a gym, meeting new people!! Worst thing is not seeing results and getting upset by this.
7. What are you most excited about 12wbt?
The transformation, meeting some new people, the FINALE!!  Seeing the look on my partner's face when I'm all dressed up glam for the finale party, feeling SEXY again and working in on the dancefloor BRINGING IT!

8. And what scares the pants off you?
Probably injuries as I've only ever had a broken arm...but now I've got scoliosis in my back and my pelvis is two centimetres higher on one side.  This is causing me grief when I run...ice pack on every second night!  I'm just trying to focus and stay healthy and be careful but give it my all god-dammit!
9. Tell me - right now - today - how do you feel about exercise in no more than 10 words
Bloody brilliant...LOVE BOXING, 90's step classes and RUNNING!!
10. Complete this sentence - in 12 weeks time - on the last day of 12wbt I am going to be feeling like Nicole Chapman again.

red flag moments

Hey everyone!

Well, I had my mum come over to Sydney from NZ for a long weekend and my partner was also home from the mines...so it was a pretty busy weekend with a couple red flag moments...but also with some great exercise sessions. Mum and I went for two massive walks (even did some jogging) and burnt off the 500 cals per session.

On Saturday, it was all about pampering!  We had been shopping all day Friday (exercise was in the afternoon), and Saturday was just a chill out day.

Sunday was a massive workout in the City with my mum and partner.  Went to the gym and we all did our own workout, and then met up for some friendly challenges (bridge holds etc).

I had a great time with mum over, and really enjoyed it, but now it's time to knuckle down harder.

I found it pretty hard going out to dinner on Saturday night and couldn't resist temptation (had three glasses of white wine, and a mojito...and shared a dessert with mum).  It's amazing how guilty you actually feel.  I don't think I'll be having any 'treat meals' during the rest of the 12wbt, because although I enjoy it at the time, I know I can last the rest of the course without having that temptation to put me off my game!

My partner trying to show us an exercise (too hard for us girls)

pampering time!

tried the menu...so good!

Well, I'm trying to plan my weekend and prepare any meals I can for the week.
Only one I can't really do is the fish cakes (which make me drool just thinking about them). I don't like buying frozen fish, and this is the only option at our Woolies...will find somewhere in the City and buy it on Monday...also, don't have a food processor.  Will just chop / mash it manually.

So I made a pizza today, using the wholemeal lebanese bread.  I put a bit of tomato paste on the bottom (100% tomatoes), red onion, 1 roma tomato, anchovies, crumbled low fat fetta, crumbled mushrooms and fresh chives.  OMG it was beautiful!

Then I made the lasange - but forgot to add the can of tomatoes...but it still turned out perfect for my liking.  Four portions in the freezer for dinner/lunch meals when I get desperate.  I want to make this for my man when he gets home in three nights!

Then, decided to take a pic of my boobs so you can see what 14G worth of boobies squashed down in gym support gear looks like!! lol

For some reason, I just can't bring myself to do the SSS on a Saturday - so I'm going to do my fitness test and SSS tomorrow.  Today my body was tired.  I had a massive nana nap after my wax, and grocery shopping.  Then spent the afternoon cooking!  Tomorrow will be a big workout session, then more cooking & freezing and housework.  I actually struggle with what I should do for exercise in the weekends as I'm so far away from my gym.  Usually I just go for an hour power-walk and incorporate jogging when I can.  Might try that tomorrow and see how many calories I burn and go from there.
